Just 4 more months and there we are again! You’ve probably heard it already: World Cleanup Day was not a one-time event. The world is getting ready for the second time, this time on 21 September! So we are sending an email to everyone who registered an action last year.

Will you join us again? Shall we make it bigger and bolder than ever? Read on!

2018 was a success

About 18 million people from 157 countries have joined World Cleanup Day, getting out to clean trash all around the world. Check this awesome new 2-min video on Facebook about it. All together, we collected an estimated 88 500 tons of waste!

In our own little country, over 30 000 people joined through more than 300 actions. On 21 September, we’re doing it again, so let’s crush those numbers this year!

Website update: Practical Info

The website worldcleanupday.be is ready for 2019. The registrations are open, and we have updated the Practical info page to be more user-friendly. Do check it out, and share it with your team and other teams you know!

Facebook group for team leaders

Hopefully the Practical info page helps you to get started this year, but we also have a Facebook group for all leaders of local cleanups to share experiences and ask each other for help. Go ahead and join it!

Idea to create more impact: engage schools

At the JCI European Conference in Lyon two weeks ago, someone put forward a great idea that perhaps you can also use. Beyond organizing your own cleanup, you can engage local schools to join! Here’s a very concrete idea you can pitch to them.

Some day in September, the teacher can ask all pupils to pick up a piece of trash on their way to school, and in the classroom, all pieces are put together. Then the pieces can be discussed separately, as well the trash problem in general. This can have a tremendous positive effect on the children! Also please ask them to register their action on our website, so that the numbers count towards the Belgian total.

World Cleanup Day will be a success in Belgium again if lots of groups, organizations, associations, teams, schools, classes, etc. choose to organise a cleanup. Check the website for practical tips, register your action, and challenge other teams to do the same!
